An incident at Joint Base Andrews resulted in the base being locked down due to reports of armed individual, authorities report.
The incident took place shortly after Vice President Kamala Harris visited the joint installation, and involved two people who had entered the base unlawfully.
The installation released a statement on Facebook, noting that one person had been armed.
“We can confirm that the individual who was apprehended had a weapon, but no shots have been fired,” the statement said, adding, “there is not an active shooter situation at Joint Base Andrews.”
The pair had become separated after blowing through a checkpoint at the main gate. While one was arrested, another remained at large for some time.
According to the New York Post, the incident took place at around 9 PM on Sunday night.
No motive has been revealed at this time.
