An American F-15 now rests at the bottom of the North Sea- and the pilot is still missing.
The 48th Fighter Wing F-15C Eagle reportedly went down near East Yorkshire at around 9:40 AM local time, due to unknown reasons.
The plane was from RAF Lakenheath, and while search and rescue operations have been conducted, no recovery has been made as of yet.
According to the Stars and Stripes, RAF Lakenheath is the largest U.S. Air Force-operated base in England.
The 48th Fighter Wing is the only Air Force F-15 wing in Europe, and around 4,500 active-duty military members ensure that the aircraft are mission-ready.
Several F-15Cs have been involved in accidents over the past two years, with two notable cases being in Maryland and Japan, respectively.
